Canis Major was a dwarf galaxy located in the constellation Canis Major. It's name is Latin and means Greater Dog. It is said to represent one of the dogs following Orion the Hunter. Canis Major's alpha star is namedd Sirius is one of the brightest objects in the sky as seen from Earth.
